Before the municipal elections in Maharashtra, all the parties are putting all their efforts. Now 3 days are left for voting and the election campaign will also stop tomorrow i.e. on 13th January, hence on 11th January, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thackeray held a joint rally in Mumbai.

In this rally, both the leaders attacked the alleged ‘fake Hindutva’ of BJP and said that the threat looming over Mumbai has united them politically. It was described as the last joint rally in Mumbai before the municipal elections to be held on January 15, where both the brothers termed themselves the only option to save the city.

Appeal to save Marathi people and Mumbai

Addressing the rally, Uddhav Thackeray said that he and Raj Thackeray have forgotten their old differences in the interest of Marathi people, Hindus and Maharashtra. He claimed that in the current situation, it was necessary for both of them to come together to save Mumbai. Uddhav said that this fight is not just for power, but for the identity and future of Mumbai.

He appealed to the voters to elect a leadership that can protect the interests of the city and the state. Thackeray said that if the civic body remains in his hands, any external pressure on Mumbai’s properties can be prevented.

BJP accused of looting and annexing Mumbai

Addressing the Marathi vote bank, Raj Thackeray said that both the brothers have come together because Mumbai is facing a serious threat. He alleged that BJP is trying to ‘loot’ Mumbai and link it with Gujarat. According to PTI, citing the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project, Raj said that the long-term plan is to connect Mumbai with Gujarat. He warned that if BMC remained with him, he would not be able to sell the land to the industrialist.

Questions on BJP’s Hindutva and nationalism

Describing this election as the last election of Marathi people, Raj Thackeray said that if a mistake is made now, the battle of Mumbai will be lost forever. After this, while addressing the rally, Uddhav Thackeray raised the question whether BJP wants to change the name of Mumbai to ‘Bombay’. He met Tamil Nadu BJP leader K. Made this allegation citing Annamalai’s comments. Accusing BJP of doing divisive politics before the elections, Uddhav said that BJP’s Hindutva and nationalism are fake. He said that BJP has now become a party which instead of putting the nation first, puts corruption first.
