Weird Drinks: Alcohol has been a part of human culture for thousands of years, but not all drinks are made from grapes, grains or fruits. People in different civilizations have experimented with strange and sometimes surprising ingredients to create wine. Let us know about all those strange drinks.

baby mice wine

One of the strangest things on this list is baby mouse wine. It is traditionally made in China and parts of Korea. In this, new born rats are put alive in rice wine and sealed inside a bottle. This mixture is left to ferment for one year. It is said that this drink has medicinal properties and can treat asthma or liver disease.

snake wine

Snake wine is very famous in Vietnam and southern China. In this, an entire poisonous snake is put in a bottle of rice wine or grain wine. Sometimes herbs and spices are also added to enhance the taste. It is said that alcohol neutralizes the poison, making this drink safe to drink.

seagull wine

The survival conditions in Inuit communities in the Arctic have led to the creation of some unusual foods and drinks. In this wine, a dead seagull is put in a bottle of water and left in the sun for fermentation. This drink is consumed not for fun but as an intoxicant to survive in those places where traditional fermentation products are less available.

chica de mudo

This traditional alcoholic drink made from maize is consumed in some parts of Latin America, especially in tribal communities. To make it, people chew corn and spit it out. Enzymes present in human saliva convert starch into sugar. After this it gets naturally fermented. These drinks are strange but they were created due to limited resources, medicinal beliefs, cultural symbols and the need for survival. This may seem strange, but it provides an interesting glimpse into how different societies adapted fermentation to their environment and culture.
