Political tension between India and Bangladesh is at its peak. In the recent meeting with the ICC, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had again raised the issue of not traveling to India for the T20 World Cup 2026. Meanwhile, the second ODI match between India and New Zealand was played in Rajkot. Bangladesh umpire Sharafuddaula Saikat was seen officiating in this match.

Sharafuddaula Saikat was seen in the role of third umpire in the first ODI match between India vs New Zealand. This matter has come to light at a time when BCB had expressed security concerns for its players and sports fans when they visit India. Sharafuddaula has also been seen in the role of third umpire in the second ODI match.

BCB’s objection, yet how did the Bangladeshi umpire come to India?

Bangladesh Cricket Board had earlier written in a letter to ICC about the danger to its players and staff if they go to India. After that he has again raised the issue of security in the recent meeting with ICC. Still, how did umpire Sharafuddaula come to India?

Actually, the board of any country does not decide who will be the umpire in international matches. These umpires come under the ICC and only the ICC decides who will be the umpire in an international match and from which country. Therefore, Bangladesh Cricket Board cannot interfere in the matter of Sharafuddaula coming to India even if it wants to.

India scored 284 runs

In Rajkot ODI, New Zealand won the toss and invited the Indian team to bat first. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were out early and at one time Team India had lost 4 wickets at the score of 118. But KL Rahul played an unbeaten century of 112 runs for Team India and helped it reach the score of 284.
