This base was previously known as Thule Air Force Base and is located in northwestern Greenland. According to NORAD, this deployment is being done as per pre-decided military plans. Its purpose is to strengthen the surveillance and defense capabilities related to the security of North America.

Denmark increased military presence

NORAD has clarified that this step is part of the existing defense cooperation between the US, Canada and Denmark. This entire process has been carried out in coordination with Copenhagen. The local administration of Greenland has also been informed about this. The Pitfik Space Base is considered very important for the security of North America, because a missile alert system is deployed here, which identifies potential threats in time. Parallel to this announcement by America, Denmark has also increased its military presence in Greenland. According to reports, several Danish planes have reached Greenland carrying soldiers and military equipment. In addition to more than 200 soldiers already deployed, new troops have been sent to the capital Nuuk and Kangerlussuaq to further strengthen security in the area.
