On Tuesday (January 20, 2026), Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi was handed over the driving license of his grandfather Firoz Gandhi by a person in Rae Bareli district of Uttar Pradesh. Rahul Gandhi is currently on a tour of his parliamentary constituency Rae Bareli. During this, on the second day of Rae Bareli tour, a person named Vikas Singh handed over the driving license of Feroze Gandhi to Rahul Gandhi. Vikas had saved Firoz Gandhi’s driving license for the last several years.
My father-in-law and mother-in-law had kept this license safe: Vikas Singh
In this regard, Vikas Singh, a member of the organizing board of Rae Bareli Premier League, said that during a program many years ago, his father-in-law suddenly got this driving license of Firoz Gandhi, which he had kept safe since then. Singh said that after his father-in-law died, his mother-in-law also kept this driving license very safely.
He said that this time when he came to know about the arrival of MP Rahul Gandhi in Rae Bareli, his mother-in-law said that he (Rahul Gandhi) has kept a trust with me and should take it to him.
Rahul Gandhi sent the picture of the license to his mother
Vikas Singh reached the assembly stage and handed over the driving license of his grandfather Firoz Gandhi to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. After getting the driving license of his late grandfather, Rahul Gandhi kept looking at it and immediately sent the photo of the license to his mother Sonia Gandhi through social media. After this, Rahul Gandhi kept that driving license with himself.
Firoz Gandhi became MP from Rae Bareli in the first Lok Sabha elections.
It is noteworthy that Firoz Gandhi, born in December 1912, had contested the first Lok Sabha election from Rae Bareli in the year 1952 after India’s independence and after winning the election, he became MP from Rae Bareli. He died on 7 September 1960.
