An important report has come out regarding the medicines used to cure the disease. This has been revealed in the December 2025 report of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO), an organization that checks the quality of medicines in the country. According to this report, the quality of 167 medicines was found to be very poor in the market, while 7 medicines were found to be fake. Let us know the whole matter.
This is the whole matter
According to CDSCO, a total of 167 samples of medicines were found to be ‘Not of Standard Quality’ (NSQ). Of these, 74 samples failed in the central drug laboratories, while 93 samples did not meet the standards during testing in the state level labs. This means that these medicines did not meet the prescribed quality and were found to be lacking in purity or prescribed standards. It was also told in the report that in the month of December, samples of 7 medicines from different states were found ‘spurious’ i.e. fake.
In which states were fake medicines found?
These fake medicines have been found from North Zone (Ghaziabad), FDA Ahmedabad, Bihar and Maharashtra. Investigation revealed that these were prepared by companies without permission in the name of some other company. Investigation of this entire matter is going on and strict action will be taken under the law.
What will happen to these medicines now?
The government has made it clear that the medicines which have failed are limited to that batch only. It does not affect all brands or medicines in the market. Despite this, these medicines are being removed from the market for the safety of patients. CDSCO and state governments are jointly checking the quality of medicines every month, so that substandard, fake and adulterated medicines can be removed from the market. Also, the general public can get safe treatment.
