US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday (January 20) that if Iran tries to assassinate him, the United States will completely destroy Iran. This is Trump’s biggest threat against Tehran amid the renewed tension between the two countries.
According to the Associated Press, during an interview with Katie Pavlich Tonight, Trump said, “I have given very strict instructions that if anything happens, they will wipe them off the face of this earth.” These comments of Trump come after the statements in which he had said that if Iran is found behind any kind of attack on him, then he has instructed his advisors to completely destroy Iran.
Iran had warned Trump
Amid growing anti-government protests in Iran, a heated argument is going on between Washington and Tehran. Earlier, Iran had warned Trump not to take any action against Ayatollah Ali Khamenei who has been ruling the Islamic Republic for almost four decades.
“Trump knows that if any hand reaches out to try to attack our leader, we will not only cut off that hand, but we will also set their world on fire,” General Abolfazl Shekherchi, a spokesman for Iran’s armed forces, said, according to the AP report.
Trump has called Khamenei a sick person
Let us tell you that this statement has come a few days after Trump publicly criticized Khamenei in an interview with Politico. In which he described Khamenei as a sick person and asked him to run his country properly and stop killing people. He also said that the time has come to search for new leadership in Iran. Tension between America and Iran has increased significantly due to the protests that broke out in December 2025 over Iran’s poor economy.
