Exclusive: Fire brigade employees did not know how to swim, big news in Noida engineer death case

A big news has come to light regarding the death of a 27-year-old software engineer in Sector 150 of Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. It is being told that the fire brigade employees did not know how to swim. Due to this, a big question has now arisen regarding the training system in UP Fire Service. State’s Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Padmaja Chauhan had issued clear orders to give mandatory swimming training to the fire personnel, but despite this, swimming training has not been given to the fire personnel of Noida till date.

ABP News has an EXCLUSIVE letter issued from the fire headquarters. According to this letter, in the year 2023, clear instructions were given to all the districts that the fire department personnel should be trained in swimming, so that rescue operations can be carried out effectively in reservoirs, rivers and waterlogged areas.

In the letter issued by Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Padmaja Chauhan, it was clearly stated that by establishing contact with the nearby swimming training center of the district, ensure that necessary action is taken to provide swimming training to the second fire officer/leading fireman and firemen appointed in the fire stations. Still, Noida fire personnel have not been given swimming training till date.

Let us tell you that Yuvraj Mehta, who works in Gurugram, was returning home on the night of 16 January, when his car fell into a deep pit filled with water near a construction site in Sector-150. He reportedly died after pleading for help for about two hours. During this time, teams of police, NDRF and SDRF kept trying to save him amidst the dense fog, while his helpless father Raj Kumar Mehta kept watching this tragedy before his eyes. However, on the orders of the Yogi government, a SIT has been formed to investigate this matter.
