Today (Friday, 23 January) is the birth centenary of Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray. Today Bal Thackeray would have turned 100 years old. An article has been published in Uddhav faction’s mouthpiece Saamana for Bal Thackeray, known as ‘Hindu Hridaya Samrat’, through which the Uddhav Thackeray faction has targeted PM Narendra Modi.
Saamana editor Sanjay Raut writes in his editorial, “Bal Thackeray’s fans and Shiv Sainiks celebrate his centenary with great pomp. What could be a better birthday gift for Balasaheb than Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray coming together to pay tribute to the Shiv Sena chief at the main function of Shanmukhananda Hall?”
‘Some people have come of age’
Without naming Sanjay, Sanjay Raut wrote in Saamana, “Great people cannot be measured by age. The greatness of great people like Balasaheb does not depend on their age. There is no dearth of people in the country who are old and still remain a burden on the country, but leaders like Balasaheb always seem immortal and inspirational. Their greatness does not depend on age. It depends on their actions, thoughts and their contribution towards the society.
Sanjay Raut further wrote, “The ‘Marathi’ society of which we are a part has become disorganized, leaderless and spineless. Its opinion and existence have no value. It has no public opinion, it has no importance in the royal court. Despite being born on this soil of Maharashtra, being ‘Marathi’ is constantly being ignored. This is injustice and Balasaheb felt it deeply. As a result, he decided that the Marathi people His goal is to create awareness and a strong organization and he has decided that he will continue to strive throughout his life to achieve this goal.
‘Marathi would have disappeared forever’
It is written in Saamana, “The truth is that if Balasaheb had not established Shiv Sena in Mumbai, Marathi people would have been wiped out from this capital of Maharashtra forever. Firstly, the number of Marathi people in Mumbai is less and the negligence of the rulers on that. Due to this, the condition of Mumbai has become like a Dharamshala. ‘Come, go to your house!’ In the last 50 years, the scope of this Dharamshala has increased even further.”
‘Marathi people no longer exist’
2.5 lakh mill workers disappeared from Mumbai. Because of this, the history and geography of Girangaon (a settlement of mill workers) changed. The chimneys of Girangaon disappeared and skyscraper towers were built in their place. Marathi people no longer exist in these towers. All these towers are bent on destroying Mumbai’s ‘Marathi identity’ by becoming monsters. At such a time, Balasaheb is remembered today.
