In Uttar Pradesh today, on January 23, a blackout mock drill is being organized in all 75 districts of the state to test the security preparedness. The mock drill will run from 6 pm to 6:10 pm today. During this time, sirens will sound in the entire state including the capital Lucknow and power supply will be stopped for some time.
This mock drill is being done as part of preparations to deal with emergency situations like air strikes or war. Teams of Civil Defence, Police, SDRF, NDRF, Fire Brigade and Health Department will jointly participate in this exercise to be conducted on the instructions of the State Government. Along with the blackout exercise, emergency rescue procedures will also be demonstrated as per the information issued by the district administration.
What to do during a blackout
Stay at home and keep all the lights off
Do not use mobile, torch and flash light
Do not go out unnecessarily and stay calm
Do not allow light to peek out from anywhere
Avoid smoking and ignore rumors
no need to panic
The administration has clarified that this is only a mock drill, there is no real emergency of any kind. Citizens have been appealed to cooperate, so that in case of any real crisis in future, safety of life and property can be ensured.
During the mock drill, teams of Civil Defence, Police, SDRF and NDRF will jointly practice. Along with this, fire brigade and health department will also practice relief and rescue operations. During this time it will be seen how quickly relief services reach the spot in case of emergency.
Special vigilance will be exercised in major government buildings, sensitive areas and densely populated areas in the capital Lucknow. As soon as the siren sounds, people are expected to keep the lights of houses and shops off, not go out on the streets unnecessarily and follow the guidelines issued by the administration.
