This year, an army contingent will be seen marching in the Republic Day parade, whose uniform is completely white instead of olive. This is a mixed squad of the Scouts Regiment of the Indian Army deployed in snowy areas like Siachen. Soldiers of six Scouts Regiments of the Indian Army will be seen marching on the path of duty this year. These include soldiers from Arunachal, Ladakh, Sikkim, Dogra, Kumaon and Garhwal Scouts. Based on the Son of the Soul theme, these scouts regiments have expertise in mountain warfare i.e. fighting in high altitude mountainous areas.
Where are these white soldiers deployed?
These White Soldiers are deployed in areas like Siachen, Sikkim, Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh. Scouts soldiers do everything from collecting information about the battlefield to recce and warning about dangers. After that the infantry soldiers move forward. After participating in the full dress rehearsal on the path of duty on Friday, ABP News spoke exclusively to the Commander of the Scouts Squad, Lieutenant Amit Chaudhary.
What did the lieutenant posted in the regiment tell?
Lieutenant Amit, a resident of Jammu, belongs to the Assam Regiment and is currently a part of Arunachal Scouts. He told that there is snow all around in high altitude areas. In such a situation, they also wear a very special uniform which is white like snow. The boots of these soldiers are also absolutely white. There are special goggles i.e. black glasses in the eyes.
It is noteworthy that Lieutenant Amit is the youngest commander to participate in the parade this year. Just a year ago, Lieutenant Amit had taken commission in the army. Lieutenant Amit’s father, who grew up watching the parade on TV, had also retired from the army as Subedar Major. In the year 1990, his father also participated in the Republic Day Parade on behalf of his regiment (The Guards).
