Bihar Police has taken major action in the case of alleged rape and subsequent death of a student preparing for NEET in Patna, the capital of Bihar. After the FSL report came out, Patna Police has suspended two police officers with immediate effect on charges of negligence.
Action taken on allegations of negligence
The suspended officers include Kadamkuan police station’s additional police station sub-inspector Hemant Jha and Chitraguptnagar police station’s sub-inspector sub-inspector Roshni Kumari. Both are accused that despite receiving the information, they did not take appropriate action on time, which affected the initial investigation.
According to the police press release, there has been failure in collecting information and taking timely action. For this reason the initial direction of the case was not clear and the investigation was delayed. When the facts were reviewed after the FSL report, questions were raised on the role of the responsible officers.

This matter is related to Shambhu Girls Hostel of Patna. Here a student preparing for NEET was allegedly raped and later died. At the initial stage, the police had termed the case as suspicious, which caused resentment among the family and students.

After the incident, family members and students accused the police of a cover-up. He said that if action had been taken in time, the truth would have come out sooner. After increasing protests and pressure, higher officials reviewed the entire case again.
Considering the seriousness of the case, Patna Police has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT). The SIT is now investigating every aspect, be it the situation at the scene, call details or the findings of the medical and FSL reports. Police say that the culprits will not be spared and the investigation will be completed fairly and quickly. At the same time, the action of suspension is being considered an important step towards fixing accountability.
