A horrific road accident on Saturday (January 24) in Banaskantha district of Gujarat left many families in deep shock. In this accident that took place on Palanpur-Abu Road Highway near Iqbalgarh village of Amirgarh taluka, 7 people from Rajasthan died on the spot, while 3 others were seriously injured. The accident was so horrific that the Innova car was blown to pieces.
According to the information received from the police, an icer truck coming from Rajasthan was at high speed. Suddenly the truck driver lost control of the vehicle and went in the wrong direction, breaking the divider. During this time, he had a head-on collision with the Innova car coming from the front. The collision was so strong that the car was completely damaged.
A total of 10 people were traveling in the Innova car at the time of the accident. After the collision, 7 people died on the spot, while three others were seriously injured. As soon as information about the accident was received, 108 ambulances reached the spot and the injured were immediately admitted to the nearest hospital, where their condition is said to be critical.
5 kilometer long jam on the highway
After the accident, there was a jam of about 5 kilometers long on both sides on the Palanpur-Abu Road highway. Damaged vehicles were scattered on the road, due to which traffic came to a complete standstill. Police reached the spot and removed the truck and Innova with the help of a crane, after which, after much effort, traffic was gradually restored.
Banaskantha Superintendent of Police Prashant Sumbe said that the icer truck had crossed the divider and gone in the wrong direction. Seven people traveling in an Innova car died in the collision with the truck, while three people were seriously injured. All the deceased are residents of Pali and Sirohi districts of Rajasthan. Investigation of the matter is ongoing.
Identification of the dead
Those who lost their lives in the accident include Innova driver Prakash Kalawant (36), resident of Falna, Pali. Apart from this, Mohammad Hussain, his wife Zeenat, Mohammad Sharif resident of Cantonment village Shivganj, Deepak Singh resident of Abu Road Sirohi are included. One deceased is said to be a resident of Pindwara area, while another is being identified.
Amirgarh police has registered a case of negligence and wrong side driving against the truck driver. In the preliminary investigation, the cause of the accident is believed to be high speed and driving in the wrong direction.
