Massacre of Hindus continues in Bangladesh. The latest case has come to light in Narsingdi district where a 23 year old Hindu youth was burnt to death inside a garage. This planned murder has raised new concerns about the safety of minorities in Bangladesh.
According to ‘India Today’ report, the deceased has been identified as Chanchal Chandra Bhowmik, who was working in the garage for many years. The deceased was originally a resident of Lakshmipur village of Cumilla district and was staying in Narsingdi for work. Chanchal was the middle son of his family and was also the only earning member of the family.

This incident happened near Masjid Bazaar area adjacent to Narsingdi Police Lines. According to eyewitnesses and local sources, the attack took place late on Friday night when Chanchal was sleeping in the garage. The attackers allegedly poured petrol on the shutter of the shop and set it on fire from outside, due to which the flames quickly spread inside. A video related to the incident shows a person setting fire outside the shop, after which the fire spread to the garage within moments.
What did the eyewitnesses say?
As soon as the information was received, local residents informed the fire service. A team of Narsingdi fire service reached the spot and after about an hour of effort the fire was brought under control. After the fire was extinguished, Chanchal’s charred body was recovered from inside the garage. Eyewitnesses said that the victim remained trapped in the fire for a long time, due to which he died a painful death.
Anger in Hindu community
Police said that evidence has been collected from the incident site and CCTV footage is being examined. Local Hindu community leaders strongly condemned this brutal murder and demanded immediate identification and arrest of the culprits. He also urged the administration to take effective steps to ensure the safety of minorities in the area.
