Jafar Express was once again targeted in Pakistan. There was an explosion on the railway track near Shikarpur area of Sindh, due to which three bogies of Jafar Express going from Quetta to Rawalpindi derailed. Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) has taken responsibility for this attack and said that such attacks will continue till the independence of Balochistan. BRG issued a statement on 26 January 2026 saying that their commandos targeted the Jafar Express train going from Quetta to Peshawar.
Railway track blown up with IED
Baloch Republican Guards said, ‘An IED was planted in Sultan Kot town between Shikarpur and Jacobabad and detonated with remote control. The train was targeted when Pakistani Army soldiers were traveling in it. Many soldiers died and many were injured in this blast. Many coaches of the train derailed.
Jafar Express was targeted several times
Jafar Express was targeted several times during the last one year. The attack on this train was started by Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) on 11 March 2025. At that time 440 passengers were traveling in the train. After this, several blasts were carried out targeting this train in June, August, September, October and December last year.
In December last year, unknown assailants had planted a bomb on the railway track in Shaheed Abdul Aziz Bullo area. This train going from Quetta to Peshawar had passed through that section some time before the blast, due to which the lives of the passengers and employees on board were narrowly saved.
In September 2025, the Quetta-bound Jafar Express passenger train derailed after a bomb blast in Spezand area of Mastung in Balochistan. 12 people including women and children were injured in the blast. This was the second bomb blast in the same area within 10 hours. There were 270 passengers in the train at the time of the explosion.
