Amid growing speculation about possible US military action on Iran, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has made its stand completely clear. Abu Dhabi has clearly said that it will not allow its airspace, land area or maritime border to be used for any military attack against Iran.
According to the Times of Israel report, in the statement issued by the UAE Foreign Ministry, it has been reiterated that the country stands firmly in favor of regional neutrality, stability and diplomatic solution. This statement has come at a time when the tension between America and Iran in the Middle East seems to be increasing towards its peak.
Why did UAE’s stance come to light after the American statement?
This clear stand of UAE has come to light after the recent statement of US President Donald Trump. Trump had said a few days ago that a large US naval fleet was moving towards the Middle East, although he also said that he hoped there would be no need to use it. After this statement, fears intensified throughout the Middle East that America was preparing military action against Iran. In this regard, UAE considered it necessary to clarify that it will not be a part of any military conflict. The UAE Foreign Ministry said that the most effective way to deal with the current crisis is dialogue, efforts to reduce tensions and respect for international law. The ministry also said that violation of the sovereignty of countries can become a threat to regional peace.
USS Abraham Lincoln’s deployment in the Middle East raises concerns
Meanwhile, the US Central Command i.e. CENTCOM has confirmed that the USS Abraham Lincoln Aircraft Carrier Strike Group has been deployed in the Middle East region. On Monday, this aircraft carrier reached the Indian Ocean, after which the fears of military action have deepened. This is the first time since October that an American aircraft carrier has been directly deployed to the Middle East region. Military analysts believe that this deployment could be part of America’s strategy to create pressure.
Story of Iran-America tension
Last month, there were massive protests in Iran against the deteriorating economic situation. The Iranian government has officially admitted that more than 3000 people have died during these demonstrations. International human rights organizations claim that the actual figure may be much higher. Since these incidents, relations between Washington and Tehran have continued to grow sour. America has accused Iran of human rights violations and spreading regional instability, while Iran is calling these allegations a politics of Western pressure.
Strict stance of both countries, situation tense
The US administration says that all options have been kept open to deal with Iran, including military action. On the other hand, Iran has warned that if it is attacked, its response will be swift and decisive.
