Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind President Maulana Arshad Madani has expressed serious concern about the current situation in the country. He has said that today India is moving towards destruction under the influence of sectarian and communal forces and Muslims are continuously facing injustice and oppression. According to Madani, the country for which his ancestors had made sacrifices is today seen deviating from its original path.
Maulana Madani said that he deeply regrets that the country for which his forefathers sacrificed their lives and property is today getting trapped in the politics of hatred and discrimination. He alleged that communal forces are openly active and justice has been replaced by hatred in the society. According to him, this situation is very dangerous for the future of the country.
Meeting with Rahul Gandhi and the issue of jailed Muslims
Maulana Madani also mentioned an old meeting with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He told that during the Congress rule, he had gone to meet Rahul Gandhi and told him that the people of the community which was at the forefront in the freedom struggle are today in jails for years. According to Madani, when Rahul Gandhi asked for a solution to this, he gave two suggestions and later prepared a list of such prisoners and handed it over to him. Madani told that after this the then Deputy Home Minister of Rajasthan had contacted him, but due to communal pressure the matter could not move forward.
Madani’s claim on the establishment of Congress
Maulana Madani also gave a big statement regarding the history of Congress. He said that the purpose of establishing Congress was not initially to liberate India. According to him, Congress itself has been accepting that it was established to remove the misunderstandings that arose between the British and Indians after 1832 and 1857. Madani said that later Muslims and Ulemas changed the objective of Congress and made it a platform for the freedom struggle. He claims that without the role of Ulemas, the direction of the freedom movement could have been different.
Emphasis on the role of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind
Maulana Madani said that Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind was established with the aim of liberating the country. He said that the Ulemas patronized the Congress and made it stand firmly in the freedom movement. According to him, the freedom struggle got widespread public support only with the support of the Ulemas.
Madani’s statement regarding Mahatma Gandhi
Maulana Madani also claimed that strategic thinking of the Ulemas was involved in giving the title of Mahatma to Mahatma Gandhi. He said that the society at that time was religious and to strengthen the freedom movement, there was a need to bring forward such a person who could be spiritually accepted by the public. According to him, Gandhi was made the face of the movement under this thinking.

Maulana Arshad Madani said that the atmosphere being created in the country today is an alarm bell for the coming generations. He warned that politics of hatred, communal polarization and distortion of history is weakening the roots of the country. He says that if the situation does not change then the entire society will have to bear the loss.
