Famous Bollywood singer Arijit Singh, who won the hearts of many generations with his heart-touching voice in songs like ‘Tum Hi Ho’, ‘Kesariya’ and ‘Chhanna Mereya’, surprised the fans yesterday by announcing his retirement from playback singing. He has announced that he will no longer take new assignments as a playback vocalist. Closing a chapter of his career, Arijit made it clear that he is not moving away from music.

Sharing a heart-touching note on Instagram, Arijit thanked his listeners for supporting him all these years. In his message, he wrote, “Hello, Happy New Year to all of you. I want to thank you all for showering so much love on me as a listener for so many years. I am happy to say that from now on I will not be taking any new assignments as a playback vocalist. I am ending it. It was a wonderful journey.” This announcement by Arijit Singh created a stir in the entire country, due to which the fans were left emotional and surprised by this sudden decision.

Soon after, Arijit clarified his decision through a series of posts on his private He emphasized that there was no single reason behind this step. He wrote, “There is no single reason behind this, there are many reasons for this and I have been trying to do this for a long time. Finally, I have gathered the right courage.”
Elaborating further, he said, “One reason was that I get bored very easily, so I keep changing the arrangements of the same songs and perform them on stage. So the thing is, I am bored, I need to do some more music to survive.” She also said that she is excited to hear new voices emerging, adding, “Another reason is that I’m excited for a singer to come in and give me real motivation.”
‘I want to start again’
Assuring fans that music will always be his passion, Arijit revealed his next creative direction. He said, “I’m going to go back to Indian classical music. I want to go back to making music. I want to start again.”
He also expressed his gratitude for the journey so far, and said, “God has been very kind to me. I am a fan of good music and in the future, as a small artist, I will learn more and do more on my own,”
Will complete remaining commitments
Arijit further confirmed that he will fulfill his remaining commitments. He said, “I still have some remaining commitments to fulfill, I will fulfill them. So you may get some releases this year. Just make it clear that I will not stop making music.”

Arijit Singh started his musical journey as a contestant in Fame Gurukul in 2005 and made his Hindi film debut with the song Phir Mohabbat from Murder 2 (2011). However, the song Tum Hi Ho from Aashiqui 2 (2013) made him a superstar and won him his first Filmfare Award.
