BJP MP Dr. Nishikant Dubey has given his reaction through social media on the decision of the Supreme Court regarding the new rules of UGC. He has raised questions on those people who are targeting the government and the Prime Minister on the issue of UGC. Dubey said that he has been going to Parliament for the last two days, but no member of any political party considered it necessary to even discuss this topic. On the contrary, that government is being abused.
PM Modi took care of the poor
Dr. Nishikant Dubey wrote in his post, “All the knowledgeable people who are abusing the UGC, I have been going to the Parliament for the last 2 days, no member of any political party has thought it appropriate to even discuss it? On the contrary, the government which took care of the poor by giving 10 percent reservation to the EWS under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, is abusing him. I again solemnly request you to trust Prime Minister Modi, under Section 14 and 15 of the Constitution, only The law will prevail. The Supreme Court did what I said.”
In fact, many petitions were filed in the Supreme Court against the new rules of UGC. While hearing these petitions, the court has put a stay on the new rules for the time being. In the hearing held on 29 January 2026, the Supreme Court bench issued a notice to the government and the UGC and sought their response.
The rules of 2012 will remain applicable
The bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant made it clear that the 2012 rules will remain in force till the next hearing. The court has asked the Central Government and UGC to file their reply by March 19, 2026. That means now the next hearing in this case will be on March 19, 2026.
After this decision, the debate has intensified in political and academic circles. While on one hand some people are opposing the new rules, on the other hand BJP MP Nishikant Dubey says that the Narendra Modi led government is taking decisions only within the ambit of the Constitution.
