US President Donald Trump gave a stern warning to Iran and said that it should move towards talks as soon as possible. After Trump’s statement, tension is once again at its peak in the Middle East. Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told that if Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is removed from the post, then who will take over the leadership of Tehran.
It is difficult to bring about regime change in Iran: Rubio
Addressing a US Senate committee, Marco Rubio admitted that bringing about regime change in Iran would be more difficult than in Venezuela. Rubio said, ‘This is not a frozen dinner that you put in the microwave and it is ready to eat in two and a half minutes. These are complex matters. He further said that if the supreme leader of Iran is removed from power, no one knows who will take over the power.

He said, ‘I don’t think anyone can give a direct answer to the question of what will happen next in Iran if the supreme leader is removed.’ Rubio’s statement came at a time when Trump threatened Tehran with military action if it did not compromise on its nuclear program. Responding to Trump’s threats, Iran has said that its forces will respond immediately and forcefully to any American military operation.
Responding to Iran’s warning, Rubio said, ‘If the United States felt necessary, it could completely pre-empt attacks on thousands of American troops, other facilities and our allies in the region. However, Rubio also said that he hopes that such a situation will not arise.
