Today (January 30) on the occasion of Martyr’s Day, an official program will be organized at Rajghat in the memory of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. Many VVIP people will participate in this program. In view of this, Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory and appealed to the people for cooperation.
According to the police, security arrangements will be tight during the program and due to VVIP movement, traffic may be affected in some areas. Due to this, traffic can be stopped or diverted as per need in ITO, Delhi Gate and surrounding areas.
Traffic diversion may occur in these areas
If needed, ITO Chowk, Delhi Gate, Guru Nanak Chowk, Shantivan Chowk, Rajghat DTC Depot and I.P. Traffic can be diverted from the flyover. Drivers passing through these places have been advised to exercise special caution.
These roads will be affected
On January 30, traffic may be affected from ITO Chowk to Delhi Gate on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg from 9 am to 12 noon. Apart from this, from Shantivan Chowk to I.P. Traffic control or diversion can be implemented on the flyover, Asaf Ali Road (Delhi Gate to N.S. Marg), Shantivan Chowk to Nishad Raj Marg, Guru Nanak Chowk to Ranjit Singh Flyover and Rajghat DTC Depot to Ring Road Bypass.
Police appealed to the people
Police have appealed to travelers to avoid the affected roads and use public transport where possible. Park vehicles only at designated parking spots and avoid roadside parking to avoid traffic jams. It has been advised to immediately give information about any suspicious object or person to the police on 112.
Motorists have been asked to be patient, follow traffic rules and cooperate with the instructions of the traffic policemen on duty. With this, the traffic system will remain smooth during this important event of Martyr’s Day.
