After the approval of the Union Cabinet, the General Budget 2026 has been presented in the Parliament. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman gave her 9th Union Budget speech in Parliament. As soon as the budget was presented, all eyes of the country were focused on it and the stir in the political circles intensified. The leaders of the ruling party and the opposition expressed completely different opinions from each other regarding the budget.
Regarding the budget, BJP MP SP Singh Baghel called it historic. He said that this budget has been prepared keeping in mind all classes and areas. According to SP Singh Baghel, the budget gives a clear glimpse of Developed India 2047 and it will serve to lay a strong foundation for the coming years.
The budget was brought with the idea of making India self-reliant by 2047 – MP
MP SP Singh Baghel said that farmers, youth, women, teachers, doctors and businessmen, there is no section of the society which has been ignored in this budget. When he was questioned on the opposition’s allegations that there is nothing special in the budget, he replied that this budget is not for immediate politics. Rather, it has been brought with the thought of making India strong and self-reliant by 2047.
Government presented old promises in new packaging – Imran
On the other hand, Congress MP Imran Masood made a scathing attack on the budget. He termed the budget as an ’empty box’. Imran Masood said that he had expected that the government would present the old promises in new packaging, but this time the old promises were not even mentioned. He alleged that there is no concrete relief for the public in the budget nor is there any solution to inflation, unemployment or the problems of the common man. According to the Congress MP, this budget is completely full of hollow claims and there is nothing in it for the common citizen of the country.
In this way, there are clear differences between the ruling party and the opposition regarding the General Budget 2026. On one hand BJP is calling it historic and visionary, while on the other hand Congress is calling it disappointing for the public. In the coming days, the debate regarding the budget is likely to intensify in Parliament and politics.
