Virat Pandurang Rondamangle, 28, runs a barber shop named ‘Virat Salon’ in Kerur village of Nanded. Pandurang’s dream was to contest the Sarpanch elections. He was going to get this opportunity in the Panchayat elections of June 2026, but a rule of the Maharashtra government came in the way of his dreams, for which he took a step which no one had even thought of.
Actually, Panchayat elections of Maharashtra are to be held in June. Pandurang also wanted to become a candidate for the post of Sarpanch in these elections. He felt that he could win, but under the Maharashtra Panchayati Raj Act, only those who do not have more than two children are allowed to become candidates.
Planned to kill one of the twin girls
Pandurang’s family consisted of a wife, a son and two twin daughters. In such a situation, he could not become a candidate in the elections. Therefore, with the help of his friend Ganesh Shinde, he wanted to get rid of a girl. 6 year old innocent Prachi was the elder of the twin girls.
When discussed with a friend, both of them first thought that Prachi should be given for adoption to someone, but this could not help them because the birth certificate of the girl was issued 6 years ago. After this both of them thought that the right way would be to take the girl’s life and make it look like an accident. Pandurang took his daughter Prachi to Nizamabad district of Telangana for a walk a few kilometers away from the village.
Took the girl for a ride on the bike, pushed her into the canal
He took the girl on bike to Nizamsagar canal of Nizamabad, which is surrounded by fields. Here Pandurang allegedly pushed the girl into the water and ran away from the spot. People working nearby heard the sound of something falling in the canal and ran to the canal, but by then the girl had lost her life. His body was floating in the canal.
People informed the local police and the body was taken out. After social media and WhatsApp share, someone recognized Prachi in Maharashtra and informed the police. The villagers alerted the Telangana Police. The police was already investigating from the murder angle. After reaching Prachi’s house, her father was interrogated.
First tried to dodge the police, later caught
Pandurang initially claimed to the police that his daughter was being treated at the health centre. Later he confessed to his crime and told the police that he had killed his daughter. A case has been registered against the accused father under the sections of murder and criminal conspiracy. Apart from this, action has also been taken against the present Pradhan for his involvement in the conspiracy. He has also been arrested.
