The US and Iran have come very close to a final peace deal to end the ongoing conflict in West Asia, although the time to finalize the agreement has not yet been decided. Amidst the increasing momentum towards establishing peace in the region, Pakistan has indicated that this agreement can be signed only in the next 24 hours i.e. on Sunday (June 14, 2026).

This development has come to light at a time when on Friday (June 12, 2026) both the US and Iran had indicated that an agreement could soon be reached to end the three-month-long war. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the US is closer than ever, while a senior Trump administration official said that the chances of the agreement being signed soon are 80 to 85 percent. • When will the agreement be signed??

Different claims have come forward regarding the timing of the agreement, but no fixed date has been confirmed yet by America and Iran. Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that a framework has been agreed upon between the two sides and the agreement can be signed on Sunday.

He said in the X post, ‘We are closer to a peace agreement than ever before. It is likely to take its final form in the next 24 hours. Immediately after this, Pakistan is preparing for electronic signing of the peace agreement, after which technical level talks will be held next week. However, Iran has expressed caution regarding the timing of the agreement, while America has also refused to comment on the subject.

  • What did Iran say about the agreement?

Iran indicated it may sign an outline peace deal with the US in the coming days, but rejected Islamabad’s claim that a deal would be reached within the next 24 hours.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said the agreement was still subject to change, but the initial consensus made it clear that his country had emerged from the conflict stronger than before.

  • Will have to wait now- Iran

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghei said that the agreement will not be signed on Sunday (June 14, 2026) and advised to avoid speculation about the timing. He said, ‘We will have to wait for the exact date of signing of the MoU, although it will not happen tomorrow.’

He further said, ‘The possibility of this happening in the coming days cannot be ruled out, but given the uncertainty on the other side, we will have to be cautious while making any comments on this process.’

  • What is America’s opinion on the peace agreement??

According to Reuters report, US President Donald Trump has not yet made any clear comment regarding the timing of the peace agreement with Iran, but he has re-shared Shehbaz Sharif’s post.

At the same time, a US administration official said that both sides have agreed on a text draft and Washington hopes that the initial agreement will be signed in the coming days.

  • Israel will not be part of the agreement?

Along with America, Israel is also a party to the struggle against Iran in the Middle East, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that his country will not be a part of the US-Iran agreement, due to which this peace agreement may be in danger. In fact, during the ceasefire between America and Iran in the month of April, Israel’s stance on Lebanon was a matter of controversy. On the other hand, differences between Netanyahu and Trump also came to light when Washington demanded Israel to reduce military attacks in Lebanon in order to reach an agreement with Tehran.
