American MP Sydney Kamlager-Dove’s statement came on Monday (February 2) after the announcement of India-US trade deal. While giving advice to the Trump administration, he appealed to take immediate action to strengthen bilateral relations with India. After this new trade deal, the import duty on India has been reduced to 18 percent.
US Congressman Sidney Kamlager-Dove also criticized the 50 percent tariff previously imposed on India, of which 25 percent was linked to New Delhi’s purchase of Russian oil. He said that this created obstacles in meaningful cooperation between the two countries.
