Recently, Kalpana Iyer’s name is once again in the headlines after a video of her dancing on the iconic 1981 song Ramba Ho went viral. Amidst all this, during an interview, he told why he had distanced himself from the entertainment industry.
Why did Kalpana distance herself from the entertainment industry?
In a latest interview given to India Today, Kalpana said that her decision was due to dissatisfaction with the work she was getting. Reminiscing about her television days, Kalpana told how the environment of the industry had gradually changed for her. She said, “But then a lot of things changed. It became all about the same people, the same groups. I wasn’t part of any group, neither in the industry nor in television, and I wasn’t really happy with the kind of work I was getting. So what was the point in continuing?”
‘Does not believe in any kind of negativity’
Kalpana had gone to Dubai in the late 1990s. She further said that she was never out of reach and is now ready to work again. When asked if he ever sought help from his Hum Saath Saath Hain co-star Salman Khan, who is known for helping his colleagues, he said that he never did. Ready for work again after viral moment
Kalpana told that now she has started getting calls for reality shows and she is being asked what kind of roles she is comfortable doing. His new identity came after a video of him dancing to the song Ramba Ho at a family function surfaced online. This song was on top of the charts after appearing in the film Dhurandhar and is still one of his most recognized performances.
Kalpana left Bollywood in 1999
Kalpana Iyer appeared in many popular films in the 1980s and 1990s, including Satte Pe Satta, Bade Dilwala, Hum Paanch, Laadla and Anjaam. She is especially remembered for playing the character of Sangeeta in the superhit Hum Saath Saath Hain, where her character created tension in the core family dynamics of the film. His last film was Dil Hi Dil Mein (1999) and his television career was also good, he worked in shows like Kashish, Junoon, Chandrakanta, Farman, Banegi Apni Baat and Margarita.
According to reports, Kalpana left Bollywood in 1999 and settled in Dubai, thus bidding a quiet farewell to the industry which she now says she is ready to rejoin on her own terms.
