match status
Batting first, Delhi Capitals put 203 runs on the board after losing 4 wickets in 20 overs. The team got a good start from openers Shefali Verma (20) and Lizelle Lee (37), but the pace slowed down a bit due to the fall of wickets in the middle overs. Despite this, Jemimah Rodriguez (57) played captaincy innings and took the team to a strong position. The fast runs in the last overs took Delhi to a big score, which could not be considered easy under the pressure of the final.
Smriti and Voll changed the course of the match
RCB’s chase of the target started with a blow from Grace Harris (9), but after that captain Smriti Mandhana took charge. Georgia Voll (79 runs) made a long partnership with him and pushed the Delhi bowlers on the backfoot. Both of them never allowed the run pace to slow down and completely turned the match in favor of RCB. Some wickets did fall in the last overs, but the team showed patience and achieved the target in 19.4 overs.
Delhi’s fourth final, fourth disappointment
For Delhi Capitals, this was the fourth consecutive time that the team played the final, but failed to win the title. Despite strong performance every season, failure in the decisive match is becoming Delhi’s biggest problem. This defeat was very disappointing not only for the players but also for the franchise and fans.
