Controversy has been going on for the last several days regarding Mustafizur Rahman, due to which Bangladesh had to be out of the T20 World Cup. On the instructions of BCCI, Kolkata Knight Riders had dropped him from their team, which was bought for Rs 9.2 crore in the auction held for IPL 2026. After this, Mustafizur decided to go to Pakistan Super League, which a team has included in its team even before the auction. However, their price is very low compared to IPL.
For which team will Mustafizur play in PSL 2026?
The auction for the upcoming edition of Pakistan Super League is to be held on 11 February. Before that, Lahore Qalandars have included Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman in their team through direct contract. Qalandars have included him in their team at a price of Pakistani Rs 6.44 crore. Let us tell you that Mustafizur’s relationship with this team is not new. Before this, he had been a part of this franchise in 2 editions, however in 2016 he could not play any match due to a shoulder injury. In 2018, he played 5 matches for this team, in which he took 4 wickets at an economy rate of 6.43.
How much less money was received for IPL 2026?
Mustafizur Rahman was going to play in IPL 2026, he was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders in the auction for Rs 9 crore 20 lakh. However, there was protest in India after the murder of 2 youths in Bangladesh and atrocities on minorities, after which BCCI directed KKR to release Mustafizur. After this there was a lot of controversy, Bangladesh refused to come to India and play the T20 World Cup. He did not agree even after being explained by ICC, after which ICC expelled him from the tournament itself.
You might be feeling that from Rs 9.2 crore they will now get Rs 6.44 crore, so the loss is less. This is not so, because the value of Pakistani rupee is less than 3 times compared to Indian rupee. So 6.44 Pakistani rupees becomes around 2 crore 30 lakhs in Indian currency, hence Mustafizur Rahman has got about 7 crore rupees less than the amount of IPL.
