Iran US nuclear talks: Hours before the new nuclear talks between Iran and America, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said that Tehran is fully committed to diplomacy based on principles. This new round of talks is going to start in Muscat, the capital of Oman.
“Iran is going to negotiate with open eyes and keeping in mind the memories of the past year,” Araghchi wrote in a post on the social media platform X. He further said, “We are negotiating with full honesty and will stand firmly on our rights.” Iran’s Foreign Minister also made it clear that for any agreement it is necessary to keep promises. He said, ‘Equal status, mutual respect and mutual interest are not cosmetic things, but they are the foundation and essential conditions of a durable agreement.’
Tension has increased between the two countries
After the 12-day long conflict between Israel and Iran in June 2025, the tension between the two countries increased considerably. After this, the US Army also bombed some major nuclear sites of Iran. In recent months, Iran has shown strictness and violent action against protests across the country. Iran wants the talks to be limited only to nuclear issues and the sanctions imposed on it, but America wants the talks to also include discussion on Iran’s ballistic missile program and its regional activities.
America increased military presence
America has increased its military presence in West Asia. After many indirect talks, now face to face talks are going to take place, which is expected to reduce the tension. The international community is keeping a close eye on this because it could have an impact on the stability of the entire region, the global energy market and efforts to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons. US President Donald Trump has warned that this is not a good time for Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
