There was a massive explosion on Friday (6 February 2026) in the Imam Bargah (religious place) located in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. It was a suicide suicide blast, in which about 31 people died, while more than 170 people were injured. The death toll may increase further. This blast has happened at a time when Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is on a visit to Pakistan. He reached Pakistan only on Thursday (5 February 2026). This blast happened while offering Friday prayers.
Security forces surrounded the entire area
The place where the blast took place is said to be a Shia mosque. After the incident, the entire area has been surrounded by security forces. Police and rescue teams have reached the spot and started the rescue operation. According to officials, in view of the situation, emergency has been imposed in the entire city. The reasons for the blast are not yet known. The investigating agency started collecting evidence as to how and under what circumstances the explosion occurred.

After the explosion, police and rescue team 1122 personnel reached the spot and started the rescue operation. The timing of this blast is important. Actually, Pakistani security forces are claiming that they are eliminating armed terrorists. A day earlier, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) had said that security forces have killed about 216 terrorists in encounters and clearance operations.
How did the suicide bomber blow himself up?
According to Geo News report, the suicide bomber blew himself up after being stopped at the entry gate of the mosque. Eyewitnesses said that the terrorists first opened fire and then detonated the bomb. When the guard stopped the terrorist near the main gate, he started firing. He went towards the place where Namaz was offered and blew himself up. The suicide bomber used such heavy explosives that the windows of nearby houses were broken.
