An incident of knife attack has come to light in a medical university in Ufa city of Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia. Many people including 4 Indian students have been injured in this attack. The Indian Embassy has confirmed the incident on Saturday night (7 February 2026) and said that all the injured students are receiving treatment.
Giving information on social media platform X, the Indian Embassy said that an unfortunate attack has taken place in Ufa, in which four Indian students have also been injured. The embassy said that it is in touch with the local administration of Russia and officials of the Indian Consulate in Kazan have left for Ufa, so that all possible help can be provided to the injured students.
How did the attack happen?
According to PTI, on Saturday (7 February 2026), a 15-year-old teenager entered the campus of the State Medical University located in Ufa. The accused went straight to the hostel and suddenly attacked the students present there with a knife. The attack was so sudden that the students could not even recover. According to the Russian Home Ministry, the accused stabbed several students. When the police tried to catch him, he also attacked two policemen. The accused himself got injured while resisting the arrest. Home Ministry spokesperson Major General Irina Volk said that policemen were injured while trying to control the accused and the attacker also harmed himself.
