‘If Dhurandhar had released on 15 thousand screens, the earnings would have been next level’, Aamir Khan said India needs more theatres.

Actor Aamir Khan recently reacted about theaters in India. He said that India needs more theatre. Aamir gave the example of China and said that if a film like Dhurandhar had been released in China, its numbers would have been huge.

Aamir Khan reacted to theaters

While talking to Variety India, Aamir told that there are less cinema halls in India. There are only 9 thousand screens in the country. There are around one lakh screens in China. Aamir said, ‘There is no comparison. Their size is very big. That’s why a big film earns a lot in China. The business of big films there is worth billions of dollars. I am talking about US dollars. When we increase the number of our screens, you will also see business increasing.

Last year’s highest-grossing Chinese film, Ne Zha 2, earned nearly $2 billion in the country. In comparison, India’s highest-grossing film of 2025, Dhurandhar, earned $115 million in the country and less than $150 million worldwide.

Aamir said, ‘Let’s take the example of Dhurandhar. This film earned 1000 crores. Now imagine how much bigger it would have been if the film had been released on 15 thousand screens instead of 5000 thousand screens. This is what I am trying to explain. The actual game will be visible when the screens are enlarged. Because there are many districts in India where there are not even single screens.

Second part of Dhurandhar will come

Let us tell you that Dhurandhar was the highest grossing Hindi film of 2025. This film had a gross collection of Rs 1000 crore in India. 4 crore tickets were sold. Ranveer Singh was in the lead role in the film. Aditya Dhar made it. The film had stars like Akshay Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan. Now the second part of Dhurandhar is also to be released. The film will be released on March 19.
