Former Union Minister and former President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Anurag Thakur has expressed satisfaction over the decision of the Supreme Court to lift the ban on holding the post in BCCI. He thanked the court, but also said that it is sad that it took a long time of nine years for this decision.
Anurag Thakur said that this ban was imposed at the time when the rule was made that only a former international player could become the President of BCCI. Due to this rule he was thrown out of BCCI. Now they have got justice due to the decision of the Supreme Court, but they should not have waited so long.

Speaking to the media in Una, Himachal Pradesh, Anurag Thakur congratulated the Indian Under-19 cricket team on winning the World Cup. He said that this victory is a matter of pride for the entire country. Under the leadership of team captain Ayush Mhatre, India performed brilliantly and won the trophy. On this occasion, Anurag Thakur praised young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi. He said that Vaibhav batted brilliantly and brought glory to the country as per his name. He expressed hope that in the coming times, Vaibhav will achieve great achievements for the country.
Anurag Thakur spoke on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi
Speaking on politics, Anurag Thakur expressed displeasure over the statements of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Minister Ravneet Bittu. He alleged that Rahul Gandhi’s statements have insulted the entire Sikh community. He said that the Modi government has given respect to the Sikh community by taking steps like Kartarpur Corridor and Martyrdom Day of four Sahibzadas. Apart from this, Anurag Thakur also reacted to the controversy regarding Netflix’s film ‘Ghooskhor Pandit’. He said that insulting any society or class is wrong. He termed the Central Government’s instruction to Netflix to remove the controversial title of the film as the right decision. Anurag Thakur said that respect for all communities in the country is important and the government should keep working in this direction.
