All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President and MP Asaduddin Owaisi has strongly reacted to US President Donald Trump’s threat to impose 25 percent tariff on India’s oil purchases from Russia.
While addressing a public meeting in Karimnagar, Owaisi fiercely targeted the central government and BJP. He directly raised the question whether India’s Petroleum Minister is Trump or Hardeep Singh Puri? In his own style, Owaisi said, “A white skinned person sitting in America is threatening us that if we buy oil from Russia, he will impose 25 percent tax.” He also took the current Union Minister (who was present at the venue) to task.
Owaisi cornered the government
Owaisi said, “I want to ask the MP here, because he is a Union Minister, is he listening to this? Is this the nationalism of BJP-RSS? Is this your patriotism?” Owaisi also cornered the government on economic matters. He said that if India does not buy oil from Russia, then China will directly benefit from it, which will buy all the cheap oil.
Referring to ‘Nayara’ company, he said that it is a Russian company and if it brings oil to India, will Trump impose tariffs on it too? He sarcastically said that BJP leaders have beard on their face, cap on their head and sherwani on their body, but their appearance creates trouble for the general public.
What did Trump say?
Donald Trump had said in his statements in recent times that if India (in the context of BRICS countries) creates its own currency instead of dollar or buys oil from Russia, then America will take strict action. Owaisi termed this statement as an attack on India’s sovereignty. At the end of his address, he said, “There is a Union Minister who is afraid of Trump, but abuses Owaisi daily.” He appealed to the people of Karimnagar to recognize those leaders who are bent upon losing the country under the pressure of foreigners.
