Valentine’s Day is going to be the busiest day ever in terms of weddings in Delhi-NCR. This time on 14th February, not only roses and chocolates but also the echo of Shehnai will be heard. The combination of auspicious time, holiday and weekend has made this date a superhit day in the wedding market. This is the reason why everyone from the venue to the make-up artist seems to be fully booked.
The wedding season has started from February 4 and the demand is continuously increasing in the capital. Most of the marriage ceremonies have been scheduled on 12, 14, 19, 20 and 21 February. Especially on 14th February, couples have decided to convert the day of love into marriage.
Weddings will be held in banquet halls in two shifts
On February 14, most of the banquet halls in Delhi are booked in two shifts. According to the organisers, while on normal days 25 to 26 thousand weddings are organized, on big auspicious occasions this number reaches beyond 30 thousand. This time on Valentine’s Day this figure is expected to be even higher.
Management became the biggest challenge
According to Ramesh Deng, President of Delhi Community Welfare Banquet Association, it will not be easy to handle the arrangements on this day due to the auspicious time and holiday. Organizers have to be extra cautious regarding the number of guests, parking and time management.
Crowd being handled by additional staff and overtime
In view of the heavy booking, banquet halls have deployed about 20 percent additional staff. Employees are being given overtime so that there is no shortage in any event. This season has brought good earnings for the hotel, catering and event industry.
The effect of marriage was clearly visible on the markets too
The demand for flowers, fruits and decorative items has suddenly increased in the markets of the capital. The beauty industry is also completely busy. Rashmi Jani, makeup artist of Greater Kailash, says that advance booking of bridal makeup in all her parlors is full and now slots are not available for general customers. In view of the increasing work, he has also added about 10 new staff.
Astrological reasons increased the importance of 14 February
According to astrologers, 14th February is especially auspicious this time. Acharya Ashish Shastri explains that on this day there is Uttarashadha Nakshatra, which is considered a symbol of success and stability. Along with this, Shani Pradosh fast is also being observed, which is considered an auspicious coincidence for married life.
Traffic pressure may increase on the roads
Due to thousands of weddings, traffic on many major roads of the capital is likely to be affected. Traffic jams may occur in areas like Vikas Marg, SP Marg, Dwarka, NH-8, Mahipalpur and Mayapuri. In view of this, banquet and farm house operators have deployed additional guards for parking arrangements.
