Sometimes, despite working hard in life, when there are repeated failures, a person starts doubting himself. Dreams start feeling incomplete and courage starts breaking. But there are some people who turn defeat into their strength. Deeksha Makkar, a PhD scholar from Panjab University, is also one of those people, who did not lose courage even after failing four times and made her dream come true by securing All India Rank 1 in the UGC-NET examination in the fifth attempt.
Deeksha Makkar, who is doing PhD in the Department of Public Administration, Panjab University, Chandigarh, was interested in studies right from the beginning. His dream was to move forward and do something big in the field of education. To fulfill this dream, he decided to appear for UGC-NET exam. This examination is counted among the toughest examinations in the country, after passing which the candidates get the opportunity to become an Assistant Professor and move ahead in the field of research.
Family and teachers encouraged
Deeksha tells that when she started breaking, her parents, teachers, mentors and supervisors made her strong. The family supported him all the time and assured him that hard work never goes in vain. His teachers showed him the right direction and helped him improve his preparation. Deeksha believes that if she had not had the support of her family and teachers, she might not have been able to muster the courage to start her preparation again.
Changed the method of preparation and made a strong plan
Before the fifth attempt, Deeksha completely changed her method of preparation. He took help of coaching and made a regular time table for studies. He paid more attention to his weaknesses and tried to understand each topic deeply. Also, he paid special attention to mock tests and revision. This time he focused only on his goal without any pressure. His hard work and correct strategy finally paid off and he secured first position in the entire country in his fifth attempt.
Three years of hard work brought great success
Deeksha was continuously preparing for this exam for the last three years. During this time, he saw many ups and downs, but never lost focus from his goal. He learned from every failure and made himself better than before. This was the reason that when the results came, he created history by securing All India Rank 1. His success proves that even the biggest test can be won with continuous hard work and patience.
