During a big festival like Holi, everyone wants to go to their family. But at this time, getting a ticket in railways becomes a big challenge. Due to long waiting lists and lack of seats, many passengers have to cancel their journey or have to stop midway. But this time there will be no problem. Indian Railways has made special arrangements for Holi. Railway Board has started Holi Special Trains 2026 for the convenience of passengers. The objective of these trains is that the passengers going to Delhi, Chandigarh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Mata Vaishno Devi Katra can easily reach their homes or places of worship. Special trains will not only reduce the problem of long waiting lists, but people will also be able to travel in a comfortable and convenient manner. Special trains for passengers going to Bihar
1. New Delhi Barauni Special (04054/04053) – It will depart from New Delhi daily at 7:50 pm from 20 February to 6 March. Return from Barauni will be at 12:45 am daily from 22 February to 8 March. AC, sleeper and general coaches are available in this train. Travel time is approximately 12 hours 10 minutes.
2. New Delhi Supaul Special (04060/04059) – It will run daily from New Delhi at 9:35 pm from 20th February. Return from Supaul at 7:00 am daily from 22 February to 8 March. AC, sleeper and general coaches are also available in this.
3. Anand Vihar Laukaha Bazaar Special (04014/04013) – It will depart from Anand Vihar at 3:40 pm from February 27 to March 6, and return from Laukaha Bazaar at 9:30 pm. This train is a good option for the people of border areas to reach home during Holi.
Special trains for Uttar Pradesh
1. New Delhi, Gorakhpur Special (04022/04021) – It will run from New Delhi at 2:00 pm on 20 February, 27 February and 6 March. Return from Gorakhpur will be at 7:00 am the next day.
2. Varanasi, New Delhi (04209/04210) – Departure from Varanasi daily at 10:30 pm from 24th February. Return from New Delhi daily at 7:25 pm.
3. Ayodhya Cantt, Anand Vihar (04213/04214) – Operates on select dates, departs Ayodhya at 6:20 pm. Passing through Lucknow at 8:45 pm, it will reach Anand Vihar the next day.
4. Varanasi, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (04603/04604) – It will run in several trips between Katra and Varanasi in the first week of February and March.
Chandigarh and Lucknow route
1. Chandigarh, Gorakhpur (04514/04513) – It will run from Chandigarh on 26th February and 5th March at 11:35 pm. Return from Gorakhpur is 27th February and 6th March.
2. Lucknow, New Delhi (04203/04204) – It will depart from Lucknow for New Delhi on 23 February and 2 March at 8:05 am. The return will be from New Delhi at 8:20 pm.
Ticket Booking & Information
Booking of all these special trains has started on IRCTC website and app. Since these are special trains, their fares may increase slightly compared to normal trains. There are seats available in many trains right now, so do not delay and book immediately.
Smart tips to get confirmed ticket
1. Choose Vikalp while booking tickets. If your seat is not available, Railways can give you a seat in another special train on the same route.
2. If you are not able to get a direct train, then take a train from Delhi to Lucknow or Kanpur and from there take another train or bus.
3. Railways sometimes runs additional clone trains on crowded routes. This information will be available at the station inquiry center or app.
