Islamist scholar Sheikh Abu Bakar Ahmed, the 10th Grand Mufti of India and the first Shafi scholar of South India, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday. Grand Mufti Sheikh Abu Bakar said that he met the Honorable Prime Minister in New Delhi. We discussed various social, humanitarian, educational and development related issues, as well as issues related to minority welfare and urgent international development.
Sheikh Abdul Rahman Sakafi, Secretary of Kerala Jamiatul Ulema and Dr. Muhammad Abdul Hakim Azhari, Managing Director of Markaz Knowledge City were also present in this meeting with PM Modi.

Sheikh Abu Bakar discussed these issues in the meeting with PM
Apart from this, he said that during his recent visit to Kerala, he also discussed the concerns and requests of different sections of the society with PM Modi. During this time I got a chance to give my message for the holy month of Ramadan.
During this, he said that PM Modi told him that he keeps a close eye on the educational and social welfare work being done under the leadership of Jamiatul Ulema and Jamia Markaz. He has praised these efforts. Also said that such works which help in enhancing India’s reputation across the world are truly worthy of praise.
Apart from this, in the discussion with PM Modi, issues like the need for development involving all sections of the society, economic development as well as happiness index and human resources were included. Apart from these, many issues like balance in population, distribution of resources based on it, and concerns related to Waqf-SIR, protection of historical mosques and Islamic heritage monuments, resumption of minority educational welfare schemes including Maulana Azad National Fellowship, justice for innocent people in Bareilly incident were discussed.
