Before the 2027 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, politics regarding Brahmins is heating up. Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party has now played a new Brahmin card. SP MLA Kamal Akhtar has made a big move by demanding leave on Parshuram Jayanti. The SP MLA demanded in the House that April 19 should be a holiday on the birth anniversary of Parshuram.
While placing his demand in the UP Legislative Assembly, SP MLA Kamal Akhtar said that Parashuram, the incarnation of Lord Vishnu, is worshiped in all the societies including the Brahmin community. Akhilesh Yadav had declared a state holiday on his birth anniversary, but the present government has destroyed it. Due to this, there is resentment in all the communities including the Brahmin community.
Samajwadi Party played Brahmin card
The SP MLA said that since there is no government holiday on this day, people take personal leave and traders close their business. April 19 should be declared a state holiday on Akshaya Tritiya/Parashuram’s birthday. So that people can celebrate this festival. He claimed that when Samajwadi Party was in power, their government had given holiday on this day.
Speaker Satish Mahana spoke on SP’s demand
Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana also gave his reaction on this demand of SP MLA, he said – There is no immediate answer to this, everyone salutes God with respect, devotion and honor. This is a political issue, let the government take a decision on it.
Let us tell you that Brahmin vote becomes very important in UP. Generally, Brahmins are considered to be voters of BJP, but after the Shankaracharya controversy, there are many speculations regarding the displeasure of Brahmins. Not only this, SP is also busy capitalizing on this issue and has openly come out in support of Shankaracharya in opposition to the Yogi government. On the other hand, on Thursday, Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak was also seen trying to save the party from damage control by respecting Batuks.
Before UP elections, Congress threw political googly in front of CM Yogi! Will BJP get stuck on this demand?
