US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee has given such a statement regarding the Middle East, which has once again increased the stir in world politics. He said that he would have no objection if Israel occupied most of the Middle East. He criticized the legal institutions that monitor international law and accused them of ignoring Israel’s rights.
What did the American ambassador say about Israel’s border?
In an interview with conservative commentator Tucker Carlson, Mike Huckabee talked about Israel’s geographical boundaries and argued that it is mentioned in the Bible. Carlson said on this that the land that was promised to Abraham’s descendants (Jews) in the Bible is the area between the Euphrates River in Iraq and the Nile River in Egypt. Currently, parts of Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Saudi Arabia lie between these two rivers. Mike Huckabee said that it would be okay even if Israel takes all this land.
ICJ declares Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories illegal
Huckabee later said, ‘If all these countries attack Israel and Israel wins this war and occupies that land, then it will be a separate topic of discussion.’ The International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled in 2024 that Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories is illegal and must end immediately, but Israeli law does not clearly determine the country’s borders. Israel also occupies the Golan Heights in Syria, which it had illegally captured in 1981.
US recognizes Israel’s claim on Syrian territory
America is the only country that recognizes Israel’s claimed sovereignty over Syrian territory. After the 2024 war with Hezbollah, Israel also established military posts at five places inside Lebanon. Some Israeli leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, have openly promoted the idea of a ‘Greater Israel’ with expanded borders.
