Shreya Ghoshal’s journey

This journey started long ago. I come from Rajasthan. I have been associated with music since childhood. My family is an academy family. My mother used to sing very beautifully. He taught me music. I just kept singing. People saw me and appreciated me. Then I came to Mumbai. Then I did the show Sa Re Ga Ma and then Devdas. I had 5 songs in Devdas and Bairi Piya got a lot of love. After this I did not look back.

Devdas’ ‘Bairi Piya’ song was sung in one take

Did Shreya Ghoshal face rejection?

Shreya said, ‘Devdas is a huge platform for a 16 year old girl. But this does not mean that I started singing every song. It took me a long time to sing the song after this. A little typecast also occurs. It so happened that he is a classical singer. I waited for a good song. Things need to happen at the right time. My next song was ‘Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai’. Everything happened slowly for me.

Let us tell you that Shreya Ghoshal has sung songs in 20 languages.

Is it necessary for a singer to sing in the film industry to make his mark? On this Shreya said, ‘Now times have changed. Now if you are doing something independently then the audience likes it very much. Independent songs are being liked more. Now a shift is being seen. When we came, singing in the film was very important. But now it is not so.

Is Shreya Ghoshal redefining herself and hence taking up less playback singing projects? On this the singer said, ‘I have been singing in films since 2002. Even before that I was working for the album. So now I also feel that I should do something different. Now my personal growth has also taken place. Now I am also a mother. So I do only that in which I feel 100 percent happy. The third reason is that film music has also become mail driven. There are less songs with female perspective. These are the reasons why I have probably become choosy about songs now. That’s why I am also focusing on independent songs. If I get something good in other films, I will definitely do it.

Shreya also talked about the song ‘Mere Dholna’. He told that he had sung that song very raw.

Regarding her life’s philosophy, Shreya said, ‘She makes zero compromises. According to me, if you sing from your heart and sing well, you may get less songs but your songs will be timeless and will pull you along. The audience is God. If you have created your place with honesty then it is visible. You need to be honest. If someone does something deceitfully, it is visible. Afana, give 100 percent.

There is magic in his voice. His song was so supreme that people gave him that respect. My upcoming concert is a tribute to him.
