US President Donald Trump told reporters on Friday afternoon that he is not satisfied with the progress of nuclear talks with Iran. Three hours later, he ordered the operation in which many top leaders of Iran were killed, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and many military chiefs. In retaliation, Iran targeted American bases in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates and Iraq with missiles and drones. On March 2, 2026, a cloud of smoke was seen rising after the military attack on the capital Tehran.
Mention of shortage of ammunition
According to a report by Al Jazeera, the Pentagon has informed Trump that a prolonged conflict could involve many risks, such as huge costs to replenish ammunition reserves. However, on Tuesday, Trump wrote in a Truth Social post that these reserves can always help America fight wars.
He wrote, ‘US stockpiles of medium and upper intermediate range ammunition have never been higher or better than before. As I was told today, we have an almost unlimited supply of these weapons. Using these, wars can be fought ‘always’ and very successfully. Although Trump said on Monday that the attack on Iran is planned to continue for four to five weeks, he said it could last much longer.
Which weapons may fall short?
According to Al Jazeera’s report, by that time some weapons, especially interceptor missiles, may be very less in the American stockpile. On February 23, the Wall Street Journal reported that Pentagon officials and General Dan Kaine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, had warned Trump about the risks of a prolonged conflict with Iran.
