Iran Attacks Middle East: Tension has increased in the Middle East after America and Israel launched military attacks on Iran. Within hours of the attack, Iran launched missile and drone attacks on many countries in the region. Many of the countries that were targeted were themselves Muslim majority countries. These include Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait. But the question arises that why did Iran target these Muslim countries? Let us know.

Why did Iran target Muslim countries?

According to Iranian statements and security experts in the area, the attacks were carried out on American military bases and strategic assets present in those countries. The main reason behind Iran’s attacks was the presence of American military bases in the Middle East. There are American air bases, naval facilities and military infrastructure in many Gulf countries. They support American operations in this area.

Iran has long considered these bases a direct threat to its national security. In response to the United States-Israeli attack, Tehran tried to target these sites to weaken US military capabilities and warn Washington. The countries where United States troops are deployed and which were reportedly targeted include Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Oman.

exert a regional pressure

Another reason behind the attack was to increase political pressure within the area. By attacking countries that host United States troops, Iran seeks to pressure regional governments to rethink their military cooperation with the United States. Tehran believes that if the Gulf countries fear being dragged into war, then they can put pressure on the United States and Israel to stop military operations against Iran.

Revenge for the murder of Supreme Leader

Iran has described the attacks as revenge for the death of the Supreme Leader during the United States-Israeli attack. In fact, in the first attack, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and many senior military commanders were killed. Because of this, Iranian officials took retaliatory action.

Challenging the US Military Alliance

Iran’s aim is also to challenge the security framework built around the United States Alliance in the Gulf. Countries like Saudi Arabia, Qatar and UAE are heavily dependent on American military partnership for defence. By attacking areas where United States forces operate, Iran sought to demonstrate that the alliance could actually push host countries into conflict rather than protect them.

reportedly affected countries

During the increasing tension, missile or drone attacks have taken place in many countries of the region. There has been disruption in many essential infrastructures in big cities in the United Arab Emirates. Military activity was reportedly seen around Riyadh and its eastern areas in Saudi Arabia. Along with this, Kuwait’s International Airport also came under attack. The strategic location of Bahrain, where the headquarters of the United States Navy’s Fifth Fleet is located, became a major target. Along with this, Qatar’s Al Udeid Air Base has also reportedly been affected. Drone activity has occurred near strategic ports in Oman, and United States military assets in Jordan and Iraq were also targeted during the attacks.
