Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has declared the final result of Civil Services Examination. This time a total of 958 candidates have achieved success in this examination. Now these candidates will be appointed in different government services. Like every year, this time too the most discussion is taking place about services like IAS, IPS, IFS and IRS, because these are counted among the most important and prestigious services of the country. This time Anuj Agnihotri has performed brilliantly in the exam and has secured All India Rank 1.
Officers are recruited in many services of the Central Government through UPSC Civil Services Examination. According to the information released by the Commission, this year the government has given information about recruitment for a total of 1087 posts in different services. However, 958 candidates have been selected in the final result, many of whom will get appointment in different services. These posts include Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and many posts of Central Services.
How many will become IAS officers?
This time a total of 180 posts have been fixed for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), one of the most prestigious services of the country. In these, seats have been earmarked for different categories.
The candidates selected on these posts will later be given administrative responsibilities in different states and districts of the country. These same officers later work as District Collector, Secretary and many other big administrative posts.

How many seats for IPS
Indian Police Service (IPS) is one of the major security services of the country. This year a total of 150 posts have been fixed for IPS. In these posts also, seats have been fixed for different categories.
These officers are given the responsibility of handling the police system in different states of the country. Later, these officers reach big posts like SP, IG and DGP.
Good numbers in IFS also
A total of 55 posts have been fixed in the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) this year. Officers of this service represent India abroad and work in embassies and missions in different countries.
Highest number of posts in central services
Apart from IAS, IPS and IFS, Group ‘A’ of Central Services has the maximum number of 507 posts. These services include jobs in IRS, IAAS, IRTS, and many other important departments. Apart from this, 195 posts have been fixed in Group ‘B’ services.
Officers selected in these services work in Income Tax Department, Railways, Accounts Service, Postal Service and many other central departments. Among these, IRS (Indian Revenue Service) is also considered a very popular service, where officials handle tax and revenue related work.
