UPSC Result 2025: The results of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) 2025 have once again proved that success is not dependent on anyone. While states like Rajasthan, Bihar and Tamil Nadu have made their mark in the top-10 list, there are some states whose performance this time was not as per expectations. From the plains of Kashmir to the hills of Himachal, there are many states which remained dry in the list of toppers this year. Let’s find out.

Which states dominate?

Only candidates from selected states have made it to the list of toppers this year. The list of toppers includes Anuj Agnihotri of Rajasthan, Rajeshwari Suve M of Tamil Nadu, Akansh Dhull (Chandigarh), Raghav Jhunjhunwala (Bihar), Ishan Bhatnagar (Madhya Pradesh), Zinnia Arora (Delhi), A. R. States like Rajah Mohaideen (Tamil Nadu), Pakshal Secretary (Madhya Pradesh), Aastha Jain (Uttar Pradesh), Ujjwal Priyank (Bihar) dominated.

Those states which remained completely out of the race for top-10

The surprising thing was that no candidate from states like Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Kerala, Maharashtra, Manipur, Nagaland, Odisha, Sikkim, Telangana, Tripura, Assam-Meghalaya could make it to the prestigious list of top-10. Kashmir, which has produced toppers like Shah Faesal and Athar Aamir in the last few years, looked quiet at the top level this year.

Similarly, the absence of West Bengal and Jharkhand, which were once considered the strongholds of civil services, has become the center of discussion. This year was also dry for the hill state Himachal Pradesh in terms of top-10.

Participation of states among 958 successful candidates

Even though these states could not come in the top-10, the contribution of these states in the total list of 958 successful candidates is not zero. According to the data, 180 candidates have been selected for IAS, 150 for IPS and 55 for IFS. In these, some selected candidates from Kashmir have registered their presence by securing lower ranks. Similarly, some students from Himachal and Bengal have been successful in making it to the list of 900, but they missed the top 10.

Is the trend of civil service decreasing in Bengal and Jharkhand?

This performance of the states clearly shows that the culture of civil services preparation is still very strong in Rajasthan, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. At the same time, in states like Bengal and Jharkhand, perhaps the inclination of students is moving towards other fields or the level of preparation is lacking somewhere. These results are a sign of introspection for the coaching institutes and candidates of these states in the coming times.
