Following the death of a 26-year-old man in a clash over playing Holi in Delhi, tension prevailed in Delhi’s Uttam Nagar on Friday as a car and a motorcycle were set on fire and traffic was disrupted for several hours due to protests by Hindu political organisations.
According to police sources, members of Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad protested near the Uttam Nagar East metro station, blocking the main road and bringing traffic to a standstill for hours. The protesters are demanding strict action against those involved in the murder. During this, he sat on the road and raised slogans.

Police personnel had to struggle a lot to disperse the protesters and restore traffic movement in the area. The police officer said that our teams made efforts to remove the protesters from the road so that vehicular movement could be restored. Many ambulances were also stuck in the traffic jam.
Police sources said that even after repeated appeals, when the protesters were not ready to vacate the road, mild force was used to disperse them. Heavy police force has been deployed in the area to maintain law and order. Police from several police stations are deployed on the spot.
Tension in the area after the death of the youth
Amidst the tension prevailing in the area over this incident, a parked car and a motorcycle were set on fire in JJ Colony area of Uttam Nagar on Friday afternoon. Delhi Fire Service officer said that the fire brigade controlled the fire in time and informed the police. Police is trying to find out who started the fire.

On Wednesday, during the celebration of Holi, a young man named Tarun was injured in a clash between two families of different communities, he died during treatment. After which there is tension in the entire area. To prevent the situation from worsening, additional police and paramilitary personnel have been deployed in the area as a precautionary measure.
Controversy arose due to Holi colors falling
According to the police, the incident took place in JJ Colony when a dispute broke out between members of two families while celebrating Holi. Preliminary investigation revealed that the dispute started after a balloon was thrown at a woman, leading to a heated argument which soon escalated into a violent clash.
The relatives of the deceased alleged that the dispute started when an 11-year-old girl, who was playing Holi from the terrace of the house, threw a water balloon at her relatives below. The balloon fell on the road and burst, causing color to the woman from another family. After which the woman started fighting.
Later the woman along with her family and other people of the community again reached his house and attacked his family who were playing Holi. Other family members later gathered and attacked Tarun when he was returning home.
Police arrested four accused
Police have so far arrested four people in this case and detained a minor. Police said they are examining the footage of CCTV cameras of the area and recording the statements of witnesses. Dwarka Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Kushal Pal Singh said, ‘We learned that the fight started by throwing balloons. The matter is being investigated. Police said that additional personnel will remain deployed in the area until the situation becomes completely normal.
