With the aim of making women economically stronger and increasing their participation in domestic decisions, state governments launch various schemes from time to time. In such a situation, the Aam Aadmi Party government of Punjab has announced a new financial assistance scheme for women. Under the information, a fixed amount will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of eligible women every month. This announcement was made during the budget for the financial year 2026-27, in which the state government has decided to start a new initiative to provide financial help to women. The government believes that providing regular financial assistance will strengthen the economic position of women and they will be able to play a more active role in family decisions.

Plan announced in the budget

While presenting the budget in the Rajya Sabha, Finance Minister Harpal Singh has announced the launch of the Chief Minister Mavan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana. Under this scheme, eligible women of the state will be given financial assistance every month. According to the government, women of the general category will be given Rs 1,000 every month, for the remaining Scheduled Caste women this amount has been increased to Rs 1500. This money will be sent directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiary women. This scheme was in discussion for a long time, because before the 2022 assembly elections, the promise of giving Rs 1500 every month to women was included in the election promises of Aam Aadmi Party. Now the government has announced its implementation through the budget.

Which women will get the benefit of this scheme?

According to the government, the benefits of this scheme will be given to a large number of women of the state. For this scheme, the age of the woman should be at least 18 years or more. Under this scheme, eligible women of general category will get Rs 1,000 every month. Women belonging to Scheduled Caste category will be given Rs 1500 per month and women taking old age, widow or disabled pension will also be able to avail the benefits of this scheme. The government claims that about 97 percent of the adult women of the state can come under the scope of this scheme. The application process and final list of documents for this scheme has not been released yet by the government. But generally in such schemes, documents like Aadhar card, bank details, residence certificate, age certificate and category related certificate are asked.
