Odisha Police has released the official notification for the recruitment of 800 Special Police Officer (SPO) posts in the state. Under this recruitment, eligible candidates can apply through offline medium. Interested candidates will have to send the application form within the stipulated time, because the last date for submission of application has been fixed as 30 March 2026.
According to the released information, recruitment will be done on a total of 800 posts. These posts will be filled in different police ranges and districts. The maximum number of posts are in Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate, where 106 posts will be filled. Apart from this, posts are also available in many districts of the Central Range, which include Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Khurda, Nayagarh and Puri. A total of 152 posts will be filled in this range.
Similarly, 90 posts have been kept in Balasore, Bhadrak and Mayurbhanj districts under the emergency department. In the NCR range, 61 posts will be filled in Dhenkanal, Deogarh and Angul districts. There are a total of 95 posts in the Northern Range of Police in Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Bolangir, Sambalpur and Subarnapur districts. Whereas in the western range, 85 posts have been kept in Keonjhar, Rourkela and Sundargarh districts.
92 posts are available in Berhampur, Boudh, Gajapati, Ganjam and Kandhamal districts of Southern Range. Apart from this, a total of 119 posts will be filled in the districts of Kalahandi, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Raigarh and Nuapada in the South-West Range.
Who can apply?
Some important conditions have been set for this recruitment. First of all, the candidate must be a permanent resident of Odisha state. Along with this, the age of the person applying should not be more than 65 years. The candidate should be able to read, write and speak Odia language.
The record of the person applying should also be clean. There should not be any criminal case against him and he should not have been previously found guilty in any serious departmental action. If the candidate is married, he should not have more than one wife. Apart from this, it is also necessary that the candidate should have previously worked in Odisha Police on posts like ASI, SR or Inspector.
When and how will the exam be held?
The selection process for this recruitment will be conducted on 17 April 2026. This process will start at 6:30 am at Bhubaneswar Police Office. During this, document verification, written examination and personal interview of the candidates will be conducted. The board says that all the candidates will have to bring their necessary documents with them, so that there is no problem during the examination.
This is how the final selection will be
The candidates who pass the medical examination and physical examination will be called before the selection board. After this the final selection will be made. Selected candidates will have to wear the prescribed uniform and identity insignia of Odisha Police. Along with the application form, candidates will also have to submit some important documents.
