Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also released the second list of candidates for the Kerala Assembly elections 2026. There are names of 39 candidates in the second list. BJP has also announced its candidate in this list for Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan’s seat Dharmadam. Here Ranjit Pinarayi will challenge Vijayan. On Monday, BJP had released the first list of 47 candidates.
Elections are to be held in Kerala on 9 April and the results will be announced on 4 May. Among the 39 candidates whose names the BJP has announced on Thursday (March 19, 2026), the name of former Mizoram Governor Kummanam Rajasekharan is also there. The party has given him ticket from Ernakulam.
Rajasekaran was in the fray from Nemom seat in the 2021 assembly elections, but he lost to Left candidate V Sivankutty. However, he lost by very less votes. After this he also contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Here also he had to face defeat. He was in the fray against Congress MP Shashi Tharoor from Thiruvananthapuram seat, but he lost the election by about one lakh votes.

The name of Dr. Robin Radhakrishnan, who came into limelight from Bigg Boss Malayalam, is also in the list, BJP has decided to field him from Kundra assembly seat. In Kasaragod, BJP president Ashwin ML will contest from Kasaragod, while advocate B Gopalakrishnan will contest from Guruvayoor and PR Shivashankar from Ernakulam.
There are a total of 6 women candidates in the second list of BJP, whereas there were names of 7 women in the first list. Thus far, BJP has fielded 13 candidates in the Kerala elections.
