Political parties are busy preparing for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections 2026. On one hand, the list of candidates is being released, meanwhile, DMK chief and Chief Minister MK Stalin has released the party’s manifesto on Sunday (29 March). Many big announcements have been made in the manifesto. This includes giving free electricity from Rs 2,000 per month to women and elderly people and laptops to 35 lakh students.

While releasing the manifesto at the party headquarters in Chennai, Stalin said, the DMK government has fulfilled the promises made to the people. If DMK government is formed again in Tamil Nadu, the existing schemes will be completed.

Women heads will get Rs 2,000 per month

Among the major announcements made by Stalin, the monthly assistance of Rs 1,000 given till now to women heads will be increased to Rs 2,000. This will benefit more than 1.37 crore beneficiaries of the state. Apart from this, it was also promised to increase the old age pension to Rs 2,000. The government’s breakfast scheme, which is currently being run for children from class 1 to class 5, has been promised to be implemented till class 8.

Announcement of interest free loan up to Rs 5 lakh

The DMK chief has promised that if his party forms the government, women self-help groups will get interest-free loans of up to Rs 5 lakh. Apart from this, he promised to increase the benefit under Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme to Rs 1 lakh. DMK has promised that if the government is formed, 10 lakh new houses will be constructed in the next five years. Also, dialysis facilities in government hospitals will be doubled.

Promise of free electricity-laptop

It was said in the manifesto that 35 lakh students pursuing higher education will be given laptops. Also promised to continue providing free electricity to more than 20 lakh beneficiaries. Also said that pump sets without meters will also be made available. IT parks will be established to increase employment opportunities. Stalin said that the party aims to achieve investment of Rs 18 lakh crore to boost the state’s economy.
